Pack 301 Meetings during COVID-19

As we face an unprecedented pandemic, Pack 301 is committed first to the safety of our Scouts and Scout families.

We will “do our best” to make a fun, exciting program for our Scouts throughout the year, adapting our programs to meet the current status

Updated 3/17/21 — based on the Governor’s announcement on 3/11, Northern Star Scouting has

Updated COVID Protocols and Face Mask Guidance

At the May 13th Parent Leader Committee meeting, the Committee agreed to adopt the current guidance from Northern Star Scouting (below).

As such, for Outdoor Meetings, masks are no longer required (but remain optional).

For Indoor Meetings, masks remain required and indoor groups should not exceed 25 people.

05/07/21   Effective today, we will follow state of Minnesota guidance for most settings that no longer requires face coverings, social distancing or limitations on groups sizes (below 500) for outdoor Scout outings, meetings and weekend campouts.  However, we continue to recommend that you follow social distancing, smaller group sizes and use of face coverings when social distancing is not manageable in outdoor settings because it will reduce the risk of transmission of COVID in Scouting activities

Pack meetings will move to in-person beginning in April 2021. Look for more details and locations in the coming weeks.

We operate our programs under the COVID-19 guidance published by Northern Star Scouting https://www.northernstar.org/covid19

Den Meetings

Updated 05/07/21

Dens can continue to meet In-Person, if the Dens either indoors (max of 25 people) if all attendees will be asked to wear a mask (unless they are under 2 or have a medical need) and hand sanitizer will be available at multiple spots

For outdoor meetings, masks will be optional for attendees

HIGH RISK INDIVIDUALS

Currently, information indicates that older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. Those at high risk for severe illness from COVID-19 are people aged 65 years and older and people who live in a nursing home or long-term care facility. Those at high risk include people of all ages with underlying medical conditions, particularly if not well controlled, including:

• People with chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma
• People who have serious heart conditions
• People who are immunocompromised (Many conditions can cause a person to be immunocompromised, including cancer treatment, smoking, bone marrow or organ transplantation, immune deficiencies, poorly controlled HIV or AIDS, and prolonged use of corticosteroids and other immune weakening medications
• People with severe obesity (body mass index [BMI] of 40 or higher)
• People with diabetes
• People with chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis
• People with liver disease

People in high risk categories should not participate in
in-person activities but are encouraged to participate online.

How Virtual Meetings will work

Pack Meeting

Our goal is to have as many in-person, outdoors meetings as a Pack as possible.

This may mean we have outdoor activities (such as sledding, caroling, etc) vs a “traditional” Pack meeting. This allows our Scouts to do an activity that gets them up and moving.

Where needed, we will hold virtual meetings that are a mix of live and pre-recorded segments (such as a virtual campfire, Scout jokes, science experiments to do at home, and more!) that are available on our normal Pack meeting nights. We may also have some pre-recorded, on-demand content, for our Scouts to work on as needed

Den Meetings

Our goal is to have as many in-person, outdoors meetings as a Den as possible.

For times and areas where we can’t meet as a Den, your Den Leader will provide guidance to parents and what to work with your child on during that month. The great part about Scouting is that it is possible to do a lot of the program between a parent and child.

Dens will still meet at least once a month, but that may be more sharing what has been done, playing games or having a Den discussion on an action for the month.
